| The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre designed by architects Haworth Tompkins has recently undergone a dramatic transformation. The project incorporates SL Series lightstrings from Tokistar supplied by The Light Projects Group.
Specified by building services consulting engineers Max Fordham LLP, the lightstrings are mounted on a “green wall” of clematis, Virginia creeper and honeysuckle. These add a faerie touch to the semi-enclosed public bar area and provide soft illumination through the foliage.
The SL series of lightstrings from Tokistar Lighting Systems is a commercial-grade treelighting system designed to last year on year. The strings are wired in parallel so that single lamp failures do not affect others in the chain. The lightstrings, which can be cut on site as required, are secured with vinyl ties. A choice of cable colours is available to match any setting and make the fittings as unobtrusive as possible.
Michael Baldwin, partner of Max Fordham LLP says, “We undertook a lot of research when looking at which fittings to use for this application. We particularly liked the lightstrings from Tokistar because the lamps are small and robust and have a long lamp life. The other benefit of Tokistar Lightstrings is vandal resistance, as the lamps can only be changed using the small tool supplied”.
